In-Person Trumpet Lessons
Students of any age are welcome! A typical lesson breakdown includes a combination of exercises in trumpet fundamentals, rhythm, sight-reading, and repertoire.
Online Trumpet Lessons
Online trumpet lessons are offered for students who don't live in the Wichita, Kansas area as well as any student who prefers the flexibility of learning from home.
In-Person Jazz Improvisation Lessons
Lessons in jazz improvisation are offered to students playing any wind instrument in middle school or high school. A typical lesson breakdown includes exercises in jazz style, music theory, solo transcription, and learning jazz standards.
Online Jazz Improvisation Lessons
Online jazz improvisation lessons are offered for students who don't live in the Wichita, Kansas area as well as any student who prefers the flexibility of learning from home.
Meet the Teacher
Hello there! My name is Dustin Huxman, and I am a professional trumpet player and educator based in Wichita, Kansas. While I have plenty of experience and absolutely love performing in a variety of contexts ranging from the concert hall to the small jazz club, my true passion lies in education.
I started teaching my first private trumpet student during my sophomore year of college, and I immediately realized it was something I loved to do. Since then, I have taught many students, ranging from complete beginners all the way up to adults. This has helped shape my philosophy that every single student is capable of success, but their paths to getting there can be wildly different.
With me as a teacher, you won't be getting a pre-set curriculum for you to be forced into. Rather, I will aim to assess your ability as a player, including both your strengths and weaknesses, and develop an individualized curriculum that fits your specific needs and interests. My ultimate goal is for my students to develop to a point where they don't need me anymore!
